RULES AND CONDITIONS FOR ENTRANTS

1) All entries must be original work and not available on any commercial recording.

2) Entries should be submitted on cassette, compact disc or mini-disc, with three copies of the lyrics typed or clearly printed on A4 paper, together with a completed entry form and fee. NB. At this stage the quality of production is not a criteria, it is the song itself that is being judged for entry, and the demo is purely for us to get the feel of the piece, so we don't put two similar songs in the same heat

. 3) Songwriters may submit up to two entries maximum. They may perform their own songs, or have a nominee perform them. An administration fee of �3.00 for one song or �5.00 for two songs will be made, and should be enclosed with your entry form (make cheques/po's payable to A.Martin). Entries cannot normally be returned to you

. 4) It is anticipated that all entrants will be invited to perform their work at a series of heats at Elements, Bradshawgate, Bolton. Please note only one song per heat. If you submit two songs they will be performed at two separate heats

. 5) Closing date for entries is 31st August 2003 . The entrant will be informed of his/her heat date(s) as soon as possible after that. If there are dates that you cannot attend please make this clear on your entry form (heats are held on Wednesday evenings) If entrants gets through to the final they must be available to perform on the specific date.

6) There will be a panel of judges at each heat, consisting of a cross section of invited guests to do with music, press, and the main sponsors. Winners and runners up in each heat will be invited to the final. The organisers will also use their discretion in inviting close �third places� to the final as a �wild card�. The judges� decision is final.

7) Entries will be judged on melody, originality, and lyrical content, with an additional category of performance. Hence it beneficial to the composer to make the most of her/his work.

8) A quality P.A. System (with foldback) will be provided at the venue. Whilst every effort will be made to accommodate any instrumentation, a full blown drum kit is not permissible. This is not a 'Battle Of The Bands'.
